With all the speculation and rumors swirling about the pending redesign of the Camaro for 2015, I figured it might be time to toss some of my styling ideas out there.
By now it’s no secret that it’s expected to get smaller and lighter, but one key comment I’ve read was that this redesign will be evolutionary, not revolutionary, due to the success of the fifth-gen. With that in mind, I believe the car will remain first-gen-themed but a bit less chiseled and raw. My guess is that it’s going to take on some of the styling we’ve seen in GM’s newest concept and production vehicles in an attempt to attract buyers outside of the domestic V-8 RWD coupe market.
My concept features a car with slightly smoother and more muscular surface transitions, more exaggerated fender bulges and a less blocky nose. There were also some elements of the Tru 140s Concept that I felt would look at home on its brawny sibling. For example, I wanted to slim down the sheer height of the doors, so I added a more dramatic undercut to the rockers. New lighting technology allows for the iconic ’69 RS headlights, and the taillights are now a single unit with dual LED arrays. The hood retains its cowl-induction scoop and creases that extend onto the front fascia. The larger intakes on the front are more dramatic and also break up the mass of the nose.
