GM really impressed last year with their reintroduction of the 2014 1LE Camaro option. For $3,500 the Camaro SS was stuffed with handling goodies galore. For the new 2014 model, GM upped their game a bit and are offering even more goodness for those who want to slap Mustangs upside their little pony heads at the track. For 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, the 1LE option price stays at 35 “Benjamins,” and for that stack of green you get 3.91 gears, unique rear spoiler, 20-inch ZL1 wheels, suede steering wheel and shift knob, sticky 285 Goodyear rubber, and a sweet ride and suspension upgrade package. New for 2014 are uber-supportive Recaro seats with pass-through holes to accommodate a racing harness.

All of this handling goodness comes attached to the newly redesigned (more like freshened up) 2014 Chevy Camaro SS, which features a new, more-streamlined front fascia (that we really like) and reworked tail lamps that we’re getting used to.

GM dropped one off for us to check out, and after driving it, we couldn’t help but be impressed with how good the handling felt. It’s also nice that the car has so many creature comforts, but is still a very capable track car. As a GM rep told us, “For what it’s worth, the 1LE is faster than any Mustang we’ve tested on a track, and the ZL1 is faster than the 1LE, and the Z/28 is faster than the ZL1.” So, if you want to cry havoc while lapping Fords, then the 1LE is an option that anyone looking to buy a new SS should look into.
