Here are a few things to keep in mind regarding LS1-powered fourth-gens: In 1998 the heads had perimeter bolt valve covers, but in following years, the design was changed to center bolts. This makes the 1998 heads less desirable, and if you do a head swap, you'll need new valve covers and racks. Plus, nobody will want your cores. In 2001, the LS1 ditched the EGR valve and started to get the better flowing LS6 intake developed for the Corvette.
