We drive Black Betty hard, and to be honest, the stock oil pan is barely adequate for serious cornering. We could bolt on a super-fancy road race oil pan, but then we would have to deal with fitment issues, and besides, the cast factory pan provides structural support to the block. The best option we found was this trap-door baffle insert from Improved Racing (PN IREGM-1000, $200). This cost-effective upgrade was 100-percent bolt in and improves oil drainback while reducing oil slosh. Best of all, the trap doors will help keep oil around the sump even during high-g maneuvers.
